Fused Dichroic Glass

This is Dichroic glass before it has been fused into our jewellery. Each piece of glass is cut to shape and layered before being fired in a kiln. The piece is then ground to shape and then refired to a high polish. Layers of glass are often added between firings to create a feeling of depth within the glass.

Lampworking

These are Italian "Moretti" glass rods that we use to make our lampworked jewellery. To make the beads, glass is melted in a flame and then wound onto a mandrel. The molten glass is then manipulated into shape with the use of special tools and gravity. Different effects are achieved by adding different coloured glass rods and creating surface texture. Glass needs to be cooled very slowly otherwise cracks and stresses can occur. To avoid this all our glass beads are 'annealed' in a kiln for strength and durability.
